WN5IGF
WN5IGF was my original Novice license callsign. A photo of the actual license is shown below. WN5IGF is now the club callsign of the Harrison Radio Club. The Heathkit DX-60B and HR-10B in the photo below is the actual equipment I used as a Novice. At that time the transmitter had to be crystal controlled. The HG-10B VFO was added when I upgraded to a General class license. All of the equipment in the photo below is operational and I occasionally have it on the air, most notably each March during the Novice Rig Roundup – my NRR number is # 981. My first contact as a radio amateur was with John Firey, then WN5HRI. In 2006 when I was elected President of ARRL, John contacted me and said he had my old Novice QSL card in his file and wanted to return it to me, for which I am eternally thankful. A photocopy is below. Those days are the fondest of memories, I will forever cherish them.
